Design Review and Construction Supervision of Tetteh Quarshie  –  Mamfe Road Project (Pantang – Mamfe Section), Ghana

Background
The project is designated as Pantang-Mamfe section of the Tetteh Quarshie Circle to Mamfe Road Rehabilitation Project. The road is 30km long and forms part of the National road N4 which goes from Accra (capital city) to Koforidua (Regional capital). The project consists of the engineering designs and construction supervision for widening of existing road to a two 6m-lane single carriageway with shoulders through a hilly to mountainous terrain. Most sections of the road pass through settlements with limited space between rows of housing. The first 8km is a dual carriageway (2 lanes) on a relative flat terrain with an asphaltic concrete surfacing laid on 200mm crushed rock base overlying 300mm stabilised subbase. The next 4.2 km is also a dual carriageway over difficult mountainous terrain with an asphaltic concrete surfacing laid on 200mm crushed rock base overlying 300mm stabilised subbase. The final 17.6km is a double bituminous dressed surface on mechanically stabilised base and subbase over hilly and rolling terrain.
