Design Review and Construction Supervision of Achimota - Anyinam Road (Apedwa-Bunso Section), Ghana



Background
The Project was formulated by the Government of Ghana to strengthen the physical infrastructure base with the view to enhancing their capacity for revenue generation. The project designated construction of Achimota –Anyinam Road (Apedwa-Bunso) is a single carriageway approximately 21.8km long constructed through a rolling forest terrain. It involved the construction of 20m single span reinforced concrete (R.C) structure with pre-stressed R.C beams. The pavement has an asphalt concrete surface wearing course of 40mm laid over a 60mm binder course on a 100mm dense bituminous macadam course. 63000m3 of crushed rock of was used as the road base material    which overlaid 80,000m3 of cement stabilised sub-base.
